According to wikipedia, potential medical uses include use as a weight loss aid, to control the underlying cause of glaucoma, to increase skin's natural resistance to burning under UV light, to stimulate a tanning response when applied topically, to reduce urinary tract infections and enhance the ability of antibiotics to kill bacteria that normally survive. Obviously more scientific studies need to be done to substantiate these claims. For now, all I can say is it helped me lose that extra layer of fat that all the exercise and diet in the world wouldn't get rid of. No real side effects that I've noticed. It's good stuff, try it out.
