The encryption and security software are optional so you do not have to have it on your drive.

Comment: I purchased this flash drive to use in a digital photo frame (I wanted to be able to add photos as needed!) This was a wonderful flash drive. I was able to quickly load the photos (even using Vista for Windows) and then placed it in my photo frame. The photos immediately began to display!
