Customer Rating: Summary: This does the trick QUICK Comment: I'm so glad I heard about this comb (called the Nitty Gritty in Britain) and didn't waste my time on other methods. Both my boys had lice and this comb got rid of them in a couple of days. I used it every day for a few days and by the third day or so I didn't see any more nits or anything.
All you need is this comb and whatever hair conditioner you happen to have on hand.
It also gets your hair really, really clean. It will pull anything out of your hair that shouldn't be there. Since the whole family figured we'd better make sure, we all used it. My husband liked how it took all his dandruff straight out. My toddler has cradle cap and this comb really helped by removing all the flakes that came up during the treatment.
We all use it at least once a week, as we live in an area where lice are very common and I know my boys will be exposed to them again at school. Use this once a week with conditioner and you can be sure that lice won't establish themselves, again. Customer Rating: Summary: Saved SO MUCH TIME!!! My daughter and I love this comb! She has very thick hair, by the way and it worked wonderfully. You do have to get all the tangles out first, though. We used it in conjunction with the Fairy Tales Lice Good Bye treatment. It worked wonderfully!
We had a huge infestation (about 30 bugs came out after the first treatment) and I found absolutely nothing when I re-treated on day 7. Customer Rating: Summary: This combs works well -- love the grooves Comment: I was lucky and had gotten out the nits before this comb arrived BUT I am prepared to next time (which I hope never happens again!). The grooves carved into the tines probably are more effective in snagging nits than the smooth tines on combs (that may slide over nits) sold in drugstores. It's really impressive. For thick hair, make sure to condition and de-tangle the hair very well first. My daughter has a carpet on head, and it worked for her. To make it easier to get the comb through the hair, you must deal with untangled hair first. Brush out the hair if need be. Then apply generous amounts of hair conditioner, leave it in about 20 minutes to slow down the lice. Then, comb out the hair until it is very smooth. Some lice might come out at this point, so do this in the bathroom near the sink or tub. Then, use the comb to get all the tiny nymphs and eggs. You will have to be methodical, combing every tiny inch of your child's head and you will need to have hot water nearby to rinse the comb as you go. Do this 2 to 3 times a day for 2 to 3 days and you should be rid of the lice on your kid's head. (Of course, there's the other stuff that has to be done around the house to get rid of the lice as well...
