Editorial Reviews:

The Samsung SPH-m620, affectionately dubbed the "UpStage," is so unique, you have to see it (and hear it) to believe it. On one side, it's a slim, stylish Samsung phone with stereo Bluetooth wireless technology, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. On the other side, it's a slim, stylish Samsung music player with touch-sensitive media controls and a stereo speaker. Other great features include a memory card slot, advanced voice control with dictation capabilities, EV-DO high-speed data, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. With the ability to store up to 2000 songs, the m620 is the perfect choice for tech-connected power users and music lovers who need the speed of the Power Vision Network to access information while on the go.

This amazing two-faced phone does double duty. See it in 3D (requires Flash).
Design
The extremely unique m620 features a candy bar form factor with two faces. One side offers the typical look and feel of a modern looking MP3 player, and includes advanced music and media control keys, as well as a large 2.1-inch full color 176 x 220 display--perfect for watching optional Sprint TV media. The "phone side" sports a massive secondary screen that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.3-megapixel camera lens is housed directly above this display. Up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side, while most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad, also located on the "phone side". The phone includes 53 MB of internal memory--plenty of memory for running the music player and other advanced applications--and micro SD cards can supplement the phone's memory with its built-in memory card slot. And because the m620 has an internal antenna, there's nothing to snag or break off. Charging and USB data cable connectivity are available on the phone's bottom edge. Samsung was even nice enough to throw in support for PictBridge direct-to-printer printing (via USB).

Calling Features
The m620's internal phone book can hold up to 500 contacts, and the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures and ringtones to your most common callers. The phone ships with built-in polyphonic ringtones, but for those times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear, and advanced voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates easy. Simply say the name or number of the person you want to call and the number is dialed automatically without using the keypad. No prior voice training is needed. Lastly, because the m620 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Impressively slim and stylish.
Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The m620 is a messaging powerhouse, and comes with support for Sprint's PCS picture and video mail services. You can shoot high quality pictures and video clips with sound and instantly send them to email addresses and other Sprint PCS phones that are compatible with picture and video mail services. Or, upload them to the Sprint PCS pictures Web site to create albums. You can also use the m620 to send and receive email, exchange text messages, or join a chat room. T9, a predictive text entry system, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

The real power of the m620 comes alive with Sprint's PCS Power Vision services. Relying on Sprint's new EV-DO high speed data network, Power Vision allows you to enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, and more (Sprint Power Vision charges apply).

You can also stream or download music to your phone with Sprint's Music Store service. Download digital tracks instantly to your phone. Choose from hundreds of thousands of full-length songs from virtually every genre. Select songs directly from the phone and listen to them wherever you go. Even download them to your PC.

With a USB connection, the m620 can also be used as a mass storage device. And last but not least, personalized news and information tickers, and downloadable screen savers and ringtones are also available through the Sprint Power Vision service.

The m620 is packed with useful tools to make your life more productive and fun. A message dictation system lets you speak your SMS text messages into the phone, while a voice memo recorder lets you record spoken voice notes. The phone also includes an alarm clock that can be set one time or daily, a calendar with a to-do list and a scheduler, a calculator, a stopwatch, and a world clock.

Imaging and Entertainment
As mentioned, the m620 features a powerful 1.3-megapixel camera that can be used to capture and send video and still images. The m620's built-in media player lets you see and hear streaming and stored media. The m620 supports MP3, AAC, and AAC+ audio files. And where will you put all those pictures, videos, and songs? Straight onto the phone's 50 MB of mass storage, or on memory cards. The phone takes gaming to the next level, too, with support for advanced Java-based games.

The m620 is also Sprint Music Store Enabled. That means you can easily download stereo-quality tracks instantly to the phone. Choose songs from thousands of artists in virtually every genre, and listen wherever you go (additional Sprint charges apply). The m620 sports an airplane mode feature, as well, which allows you to safely use the non-wireless functions of the phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

Vital Statistics
The Samsung SPH-m620 weighs 3.25 ounces and measures 3.98 x 2.05 x 0.49 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.50 hours of digital talk time. It runs on the CDMA 850/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Summary: Just an "OK" Phone!!
Comment: I bought this phone 5 days ago, I loved the way it looked and the 2 sided screen was amazing. I had to exchange it the second day because of the battery. I'm trying to give this phone a chance but the battery on this second one dies within half an hour of talking. Thats not good!!!

This is really a phone for younger kids in college or high school. If you are a business person or someone who is not into having music on your phone, I would not buy this one. I'm getting ready to exchange it (the 2nd time).

PROS:
1. Very small and love the color (red)
2. I actually like the navigation pad on the mp3 side - very easy to use.

CON:
1. My battery dies after 30 minutes of talking and then I have to use the extended battery which is a pain. The bottom half flaps in your face, and there is no good way to hold it away form your face.

Summary: Sprint has the WORST customer service
Comment: A word about Sprint: They used to be the best, and they are now the worst. The absolute worst.

If you call them today, July 15'th 2008, the system will acually tell you to call back later and HANG UP. You will get through the prompts until you are given a wait-time and then.. I'm not surprised at all. They got rid of 80 % of their customer service workforce.

Things have appeared on my bill for a year that shouldn't be there. I have made 5 attempts to fix this and finally gave up. They always say it's fixed but never is.
Plan on at least a two-hour call to get something accomplished and then prepare yourself to be utterly crazed with anger when you see that nothing was actually done (several times).
A telemarketer from Sprint called me trying to sell something and extend my contract, I laughed so hard, that she actually tried to fix my problems. She said she did and of course, it's still on my bill. They're really useless.

I'm turning off my phone today... That'll take at least 3 hours.

Summary: I hate it!
Comment: It's been six months and I can say the annoying flipping isn't even as bad as the reception or the problems it causes my car's sync system. I'm finally ready to give up and replace it. I don't recommend this phone!

Summary: This phone stinks.
Comment: First of all I have had this phone for almost a year.At first I loved this phone, now it's annoying.
1.I have to press the reset button 3 to 4 times a week because the phone freezes up.
2.The battery life only lasts a half of a day now.
3.I can be talking to someone and the phone will hang up on the person. This only started happening recently (No the phone doesnt lose signal)
I called Sprint to see if I can get an exchange for this phone. After talking to 8 different people 1 person said I could upgrade.I ordered the upgrade, waited for a week, and no phone.I called back and was told after speaking to 6 more people that I could not get a new phone. That I had to drive to the nearest Sprint store (160 miles away) so they can look at my phone. The day my contract ends is the day I dump Sprint and throw this phone in the trash.

Summary: Good Phone
Comment: I have had this phone for about 3 weeks. I switched from my 2 and a half year old Sanyo ghetto phone. At first I was very very annoyed with having to switch back and forth.

Pros
-Lock switch is hard to find, so keeping it locked when you don't want people to use it is easy
-Great camera
-Fun to use
-Texting is a breeze
-Extended battery
-Long internal battery

Cons
-Carrying case is big
-The touch pad takes about 2 weeks to get used to
-Accidentally gets flipped alot

other pros are, that teachers only think it is an mp3 player, texting can be done on both sides, speaker is good quality, flashy, very, very, VERY small, fits in a pocket easily, loud ringer

I absolutely love this phone, it is perfect for me.
